This company, whose real name is "Sporting Arms Custom Grips" is devoted to manufacturing handgun grips from the most beautiful cocobolo in existence. The cocobolo (dalbergia retusa) is a very rare species of rosewood sourced from a specific region in the Pacific coastal hills of Costa Rica. It is highly figured and displays contrasting colors ranging from reddish/orange to deep burgundy. All Sporting Arms grips are handmade to exacting standards and dimensional tolerances. The checkering is hand cut to 20 lines per inch. The company is owned and operated by Greg Warne, founder and retired President of Kimber, the renowned 1911 pistol manufacturer. The smooth non checkered models display the true beauty of the exotic cocobolo. They have a very smooth polished satin sheen finish with zero open pores.

Standard 1911 - Ranger
The best of both world's. Impeccable hand cut checkering and highly figured polished non checkered surface, all in one grip. The crescent contour of the checkering pattern gives excellent grip and control while the smooth surface shows the true beauty and character of this exotic cocobolo.

The company also offers their trademarked Ultra Thin line of grips. These panels are 40% thinner reducing the overall thickness of the grips by a very noticeable 2/10ths of an inch. Ultra Thin grips enhance comfort in a carry/concealment application. Special modified screws and bushings are furnished with the grips. These modified screws & bushings are blued chrome moly steel with standard 1911 head diameter, enhancing the appearance of the Ultra Thin* grips.
