This is an interesting week for 1911 aficionados, two new companies joined the ranks of 1911 manufacturers, and one of them is Unertl, the well-known optics manufacturer.

This is the only picture available at this time, on their web site, from this pistol, named MEU (SOC). From it, you can see the pistol features an external extractor, adjustable Novak-style sights, and a light rail (why? Oh why?). Other features include an ambi safety, full-length recoil spring guide, flat mainspring housing and mag well.

From a leaflet I received from the manufacturer, it looks as if there will be two different barrels available, a standard one, and a heavy, match-style one.
