Parts Manufacturers : Network Custom Guns (NCG)

These people have created a barrel system, which converts the 1911 to a fixed barrel, gas-delayed blow-back pistol, similar in operation to the HK P7. In this design, there is a piston which is pressed by the powder gases, and which delays the recoil of the slide. NCG have two separate levels of conversion, the first being a special barrel, called the "Super Barrel", and shown below:

And the second is a complete top, which includes a modified slide and the barrel, called the "Unltimate" and shown here:

The Super Gas Barrel has the following features, according to NCG:

  • NCG patented Gas System.
  • The barrel is fixed in place when put into the frame and this is made possible by superior CNC machining.
  • This barrel uses the barrel bushing design.
  • The feed ramp and chamber are designed for maximum reliability and + P velocities.
  • Uses standard 1911 recoil springs.
  • The super barrel can be machined in different lengths for compensators, silencer or 6" slides.
  • The super barrel gives 40% reduction in recoil and improved cycle time over the conventional link system.
  • This design would give you an excellent choice for a carry gun or competition gun that shoots super velocities.
  • 44 magnum velocities can be fired with the Super Gas Barrel.

The Ultimate Gas Barrel has the following features, according to NCG:

  • NCG patented Gas System.
  • The barrel is fixed when put into the frame and this is made possible by superior CNC machining.
  • No Barrel bushing and has 11 degree target crown.
  • Felt recoil is reduced by 60%, due to the slide being lighter which reduces momentum.
  • Weight distribution and balance is excellent due to the weight of the barrel at the muzzle.
  • The compensator can be machined into the barrel for maximum efficiency.
  • The sight options are numerous: A rib can be mounted on the barrel for a non-movable fixed rear and/or front sight.
  • A dot sight can be mounted on the barrel to give better minute of angle.
  • NCG delivers on your requested sight options.

According to NCG, the advantages of their systems comes from the fact that the barrel remains fixed to the frame, thus improving accuracy, as well as from the fact that since some portion of the recoil-generating gases are absorbed by the blow-back system, a 1911 using their conversion recoils less than a standard one. This is shown in the pictures below.
