| M-1911 Models : Rock River Arms |
It is amazing! Just as you think that there are already enough M-1911 manufacturers in the market to satisfy everybody's needs, here comes a new one. The latest one to arrive is Rock River Arms, for which I've got several e-mails asking for their line, before I was aware of it. Finally, here is what they have to offer.
From what I hear on the net, their products are quite good, competing with some of the top names in the market.
The Rock River Arms 1911 slide is made from 4140 chrome-moly steel, forged and CNC machined to tightly held tolerances and hardened to RC40 to prevent rail and lug wear. The barrel channel and lug area are machined with a 62 micro finish, all exterior flats are surface ground and all radiuses are bead blasted. The tolerances on the firing pin retainer slot have been tightened to eliminate rotation and horizontal movement and their slide has the lowest possible ejection port.
The Rock River Arms 1911 frame is made from 4140 chrome-moly steel billet, heat treated and CNC machined to ensure tightly held tolerances (to RC24-28). The firing pin and sear holes are drilled then reamed to exact dimensions, critical for a constant bearing surface for hammer and sear engagement to eliminate "wobble" so a crisp and constant action job will stay just that, crisp and constant!
The dust cover has been thickened to eliminate cracking. The slide stop pin hole is drilled then reamed to exact tolerances to ensure a constant bearing surface for barrel lockup, reducing barrel canting and providing a higher degree of accuracy. They offer a .260 radius cut in their frames to allow extra material in fitting your beaver tail grip safety, eliminating any gap or side-to-side play.
