Parts Manufacturers : Chip McCormick

Chip McCormick was the first company to offer titanium parts for the M-1911. These parts, made of this high-tech material, are much stronger than the standard steel parts while in the same time, they are much lighter than those made of steel. In its current offerings however, I could not find any parts made of this space-age material. The following parts are marketed :

- Adjustable Trigger

- Disconnector

- Extractor

- Full-length guide rod

- Prepped sear

- Thumb safety

- Match Barrel

- Barrel Bushing

The McCormick sear, together with their titanium hammer, when installed in my Bigmouth, were enough to produce a very crisp and clean trigger pull of arround 4 lbs. I am not sure however, if the titanium parts are still produced and marketed by this company.

Mc Cormick are also offering some of the best magazines for the M-1911 pistol, the Shooting Stars.

Lately Mc Cormick have announced their new Power Mag, Designed for people who demand the highest level of quality and function in their magazines. These magazines feature aerospace grade Rocket Wire for a longer lasting more reliable spring. All rounds are visible and numbered for instant round count. Die controlled tolerances are held to +/- .001”. Feed lips and cartridge bearing surfaces are fully polished for optimum feeding characteristics. Patented stainless steel follower design will not wear or round off. Mag bodies are seam welded with advanced methods eliminating the need for destructive grinding or sanding which weakens the metal. With all of these features the POWER MAG is one of the most reliable and toughest mags on the market.

This is a forged frame, fully CNC machined for accurate holes. Heat treated for hardness, with pre-contoured tags for beavertail mounting (.250"). You may also purchase a pre-fitted frame-slide pair, with pre-machined sight cuts for either fixed or Bomar sights, front and rear cocking serrations precision ground flats and bead-blasted curves.

Another interesting item, is a drop-in Novak-style rear sight, that can be fitted to the standard dovetail found on most military style M-1911s. Interesting idea, I know of at least one person, who wouldn't let his pistol be touched by a milling machine, so this should suit him fine.
