Majorette Ferrari Formula 1 Driving Console

I bought this console for the twins on Saturday, December 22nd 2007, new, from a well-known Greek chain toy-store namely "Jumbo". The proof of the puchase is the receipt of the shop, which I have in my hands. My kids are 6 years old, so they are above the recommended age for this toy, and they weight about 20 kgs, which is below the recommended maximum weight of 50 kgs recommended by Majorette.

The console was assembled by myself, on Tuesday, December 25th 2007. It worked exactly for one hour. After that, the screen on the TV became blurry, with horizontal and vertical bars, which made viewing impossible. No matter what I did (remove the batteries, remove the cables and re-attach them) didn't correct the problem.

If Majorette can not build a console, which lasts for longer than one hour, they should stay away from that business. A toy which costs 100 Euros (about 140 US$) is not exactly cheap. If I pay for such a toy, I expect it to work for more than just one hour. You can be sure, that I'll never buy any more toys from Majorette for my twins.

UPDATE: I took the toy back to the shop I got it from, where they replaced the batteries and everything was back to normal. The store people said that they had several such returns, and they were all fixed by a new set of batteries. It looks as if the batteries Majorette includes in this toy are only good for about one hour of playing. Even new batteries though do not last long, it appears that this console is using a lot of current. Why on earth didn't Majorette includes a mains transformer for this thing? Time for some home-engineering I guess.
