M-1911 Optical Sights and Mounts : Crimson Trace

LaserGrips is a set of grips for the M-1911, with a unique feature. On the top of the right grip panel, there is a tiny laser! This way, M-1911 users can have a laser on their gun, with out the bulk of external devices. The most ingenious idea I've seen, in a long-long time.

Below you can see how LaserGrips are installed on an M-1911.

Installation Instructions:

ENSURE THE WEAPON IS UNLOADED PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the magazine and clear chamber.
  2. Remove existing grip panels.
  3. Place batteries in the left LASERGRIP™ panel with positive polarity up.
  4. Attach both LASERGRIP™panels to the weapon using the original grip screws
  5. Attach laser danger sticker (supplied) to the outside of the firearm that the laser is installed on.

Operation Instructions:

The LASERGRIP™ has a dual switch mechanism which combines a pressure activation switch and a master on/off switch.  With the master switch in the 'on' position, the laser is activated by slight pressure being applied to the activation switch.  This can be accomplished by gripping the weapon as normal, provided that the master switch is in the 'on' position.

The master on/off switch is located at the base of the grip.  When in the 'on' position, the laser system is in a ready mode.  When in the 'off' position, the laser system is completely de-activated. Leaving the master switch in the 'on' position does not affect battery life unless the pressure switch is also engaged. The master switch should be placed in the 'off' position when the weapon is in storage to prevent accidential activation.

Sighting:

A two screw alignment system is used to adjust for windage and elevation. The adjustment screws are located just behind the laser aperture. Using a .028" allen wrench (supplied), turn the screws as required to adjust the beam.  Turn the windage screw (side) clockwise to move the beam to the right, counter clockwise to move left.   Turn the elevation screw (top) clockwise to move the beam up, counter clockwise to move down.

Adjustment Tips:

From what I learn, Crimson Trace are coming out with a new model of LaserGrips suitable for the Colt Officers size guns. It should be available at the Shot Show 2000.
