Welcome to M1911.ORG, the M1911 Pistols Organization. An on-line reference on the M-1911 pistol, first created in 1994, as a service to Internet community, interested in this fine firearm.
Today, M1911.ORG consists of three sites, The M1911.ORG Home Page, (which you are viewing now), The M1911.ORG Forums Site and The M1911.ORG E-zine. You may access all our sites, from our main web page located athttp://www.m1911.org. These sites together are the Home of all M-1911 Pistols.
The M1911.ORG servers are located in U.S.A.. Please note however that I live in Athens, Greece, which means that questions like "Which is the cheapest price for an XYZ M-1911?" cannot be answered. I just do not have street market info.
This document is a guideline written to facilitate your visit to this site.
First of all, in order to best experience the "M-1911 Pistols Home Page", your system should be adjusted for 1024x768 mode, using (if possible) more than 256 colors. Also, Javascript should be enabled.
The M-1911 Pistols Home Page is arranged in "folders", which can be thought of, like file folders and which can be accessed by selecting the appropriate item from the menu at left. Some folders may contain more than one "sections" (like for example the "M-1911 Models" folder, which contains sections for each M-1911 manufacturer).
A short description of each folder is shown below. You may access each folder either by clicking on its link in this page, or by clicking on the appropriate link, at the Menu, at the left column of every page.
I hope that you enjoy your visit.
| Introductory Page | After you come to our "welcome" page, and get in the site by clicking on the pistol, you see our main operating environment. On the left side, you will see our menu, from where you select the areas of the site you want to visit. In the main area, you can read the latest site and market news. On the right, you can see the banners of our sponsors, these companies which help M1911.ORG stay alive. Happy navigating! |

| Parts | This folder offers information about a variety of parts manufactured for this type of pistols. Although it is updated regularly, it will never be complete, due to the enormous number of parts available, and my limited free time. However, it contains a lot of items of interest to the M-1911 enthusiast. More than 50 part manufacturers are included, with their products. |

| .45ACP ammo | This is a folder with information about ammunition for your M-1911, in .45 ACP to start with. Living in a country where guns are considered to be evil, and were very few brands of ammo are imported, it is not always easy to have a personal opinion about ammunition. As a result, information contained here, is mostly what is provided by the ammo manufacturer. |
| Collector's Info | This folder contains some intitial information for those interested in collecting M-1911-type pistols. This site does not pretend to be a collector's reference, there are other resources which serve that role more appropriately, but some initial information is provided here. | Useful Addresses | This is an index of manufacturers of pistols, parts and accessories, for the old workhorse, together with accessing information, like address, telephone, FAX number. Please note that I no longer update this list. Instead, a separate searchable file is maintained, with this information. Read below to find out how you can directly find a company's address, whenever you see its name. |
| Technical Issues | This folder contains technical information, like a guidelines on selecting the proper recoil spring for your M-1911 etc. This folder usually features the opinions of well-known gunsmiths, like Bill Wilson and Alan Tillman, who were kind enough to contribute their knowledge. |
| Product Tests | This is where you can read about products send to me by their manufacturers to evaluate. These tests are not scientific, they represent my personal opinion about the items I receive. Being human, my opinion can be different than yours!
