Greece is the country where I was born and live, and which I love. For those of you who have never visited Greece, here is a page devoted to this beautiful country. Here, you can expect to find things related (in one way or another) to Greece, its history and traditions, its culture, its people. A lot of this information will be in the form of links to other pages. When it is not for technical matters, my writing is not the best in the world, so I prefer to leave this task to more experienced persons. Here we go, on our virtual tour of Greece.
Starting with some geographical data, Greece is located in the south-east of Europe, actually it is the most south-eastern country of Europe. It is mostly surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and it's bordering Albania, FYROM, Bulgaria to the North and Turkey to the East. All other sides are sea coasts, and very bautiful ones for that matter. There are a lot of Greek islands spread around in the Aegean Sea (on the easter side of Greece) and some more (actually seven) in the Ionian Sea, to the west. To learn more on the various areas of Greece, click on the red spots on the map.
If you are interested in today's weather in Greece, click on the satellite picture on the left, to visit the Weather Page of the Technical University of Athens. This site is updated evry 10 minutes. It includes a 4-days weather forcast, weather satellite picture, even full weather video. Very nice!
If you want to read the latest news from Greece, why don't you try the site of FLASH 9.61 FM, one of the nice radio stations in Athens. Click on the radio, on your right!
Are you interested in learning the facts about the Greek Marbles stolen from Parthenon by Lord Elgin and Melina Mercouri's efforts to get them back? Click on the icon on your left or on Melina, on the right.
Visit one of the most interesting sites, with tourist information about Greece. It even includes a Greek restaurant list, for around the world.
Do you care to learn the history of the northern part of Greece, called Macedonia? Visit the Pan-Macedonian network. Maybe, after reading this, you will understand why Greeks protest against the usage of this name, as the name of another country.
OK, suppose that you are planning a trip to Greece, and that you are one of those types that like getting organized to the extreme. In this site of Ariadne, you will find useful telephones, addresses etc, for Greece two major cities, Athens and Thessaloniki. What do you call instead of 911 in Athens? What are the major hospitals, just in case? What museums can I visit? How can I call a taxi? Here is the answer to all those questions.
An excellent effort by the National Technical University of Athens, which shows, on your screen and on real-time, the traffic you will find if you hit the roads in Athens. Congratulations guys (and gals), excellent work!

Being too busy with the M-1911 Page to take over the task of preparing a set of pages for Greece, I will try to collect here, links, which will guide you to various sites with information about my country. Here we go :
| Great Travelers Page. Give it a shot. Lots of useful information. | |
| Nice try, but most pages are still under construction. It could be interesting, when completed. | |
| One of the most interesting pages about Greece, mostly oriented to Greeks living abroad. The funny thing is, that it is not located in Greece. | |
| A collection of web sites related to ancient Greece. It includes links for history, Greek philosophy, Olympic Games etc, but also some very funny projects. | |
| A nice site, with general Travel Information and travel logs by several people who have visited Greece. | |
| The Official Page of the Greek Ministry of Culture. This ministry was run for several years, by the unforgetable Melina Merkouri, its influense still existing even on the Home Page of this site. | |
| Sailing Experience from Greece. It has some pictures, and a nice interactive map, form where you can get info for some Greek Insalnds. | |
| Traveling Information for Greece. Nice Page. | |
| Nice site with lots of information about Greece. However, I don't like their naming, Ellada (Greece in Greek) cannot be made a commercial organization (ellada.com). | |
| Nice site with travel information, named after the mythological hero. |
This page will be enhanced, as the time allows. Please come back again, and above all, do come and visit Greece. It will be an experience that you'll never forget.
