John Harrison 1911 Bomar-replacement fixed sights

Design Concept

The Harrison Design HD-001 rear sight meets a unique need in the firearms marketplace, serving two main purposes.

First, it allows the owner of an existing pistol, equipped with a low mounted BoMar rear sight the option of replacing it with a hard-use fixed rear sight with features better suited to tactical and self defense use.

Second, the HD-001 affords the opportunity to install this sight as original equipment, creating sight cuts that could be used in the future to install an adjustable rear sight, should the owner want to re-equip the pistol for a different mission.

Features

Fully radiused design to eliminate sharp corners and edges encountered during deployment.

Forward blade design has a squared off shoulder to facilitate one handed operation for malfunction clearance.

Rear notch widened to .135" to allow more visible light into sight picture for faster acquisition.

Rear of blade serrated 50 lpi to eliminate glare and make the appearance uniform, regardless of the direction of ambient light.

The design allows a minimum of .030" windage adjustment in each direction, creating the ability to correct for roughly 3" of error at 20 yards.

Unique two-piece design allows the HD-001 to be mounted in both the "Deluxe" box cut and the "Standard" open cut.

The rugged hidden lug joining the dovetail base to the sight body makes this sight more than adequate for hard-use service.
