M-1911 Holsters : Active Body

These folks are producing two interesting holsters. The first one called the Sport Holster, is a soft, comfortable, waist band that cradles your firearm snugly in the small of the back and is easily concealed under all casual and sports wear.

The SPORT HOLSTER is constructed of orthopedic grade neoprene sandwiched between durable nylon on the outside, and sweat wicking, DUPONT COOLMAX® on the inside for amazing comfort. COOLMAX® is used by manufacturers of fine athletic apparel for unparalleled comfort in sportswear. The SPORT HOLSTERTM does not rely on a belt to work. It is self contained so it works perfectly with shorts, sweatpants, and other casual wear allowing full freedom of movement in all conditions.

The gun is held in the "small of the back" [S.O.B.] position horizontaly with the butt end up and secured with a retention device stretched around the backstrap of the gun and secured between the grip and the waistband with a patch of heavy duty velcro behind the gun. The gun presses against the retaining strap velcro closure patch ensuring security. The action required to draw the gun is like reaching behind yourself to scratch your spine with your thumbnail except you push your thumb into the velcro patch releasing the fastener and grab the pistol's butt.

The manufacturer, for obvious reasons, warns against using this holster with pistols featuring a grip safety. However, I believe that for people who carry their M-1911 in Condition 3 (empty chamber), it is a viable alternative.

The second holster that these guys produce, is called Legal Action. This is an IWB (inside the waistband) holster, crafted with soft, padded, 500 denier balistic nylon, and can be used either strong-side or cross-draw.

The Legal Action holster fits autos as well as revolvers. It's symmetrical design makes it ambidextrous. It can be worn behind the hip`, in front cross draw style with the butt tilted or the gun vertical, or in the small of the back. There is even room for a spare magazine or "Speed stripTM" depending on the particular gun.
